Monster Cookies are one of those desserts I would come home to after school. They would be evenly laid out on the counter still warm and gooey. On early out Wednesdays from school, my mom would have us kids help make our after school snack. I can still remember taking turns measuring and dumping ingredients into a large mixing bowl. We would take turns mixing until our arm was too tired to mix any more. I do have to admit the reason I made these were I had an abundance of M&M’s sitting around. Every time we stop at the gas station, my kid picks out M&M’s as his snack. I slowly collected the uneaten half bag of M&M’s and finally had enough to make these cookies. Hence all the colors and different sized M&M’s. But the best part of this recipe is it does not matter.

- 3/4 cup plus some extra brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon corn syrup
- 3 cups quick oats
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/2 bag chocolate chips
- 1/2 bag M&M’s
Utensils Needed
- Large mixing bowl
- Spatula for mixing
- Tablespoon
- Cookie sheet, two of them if you have two
- Metal Spatula
Directions for Monster Cookies
Prep Time: 15 minutes / Cook Time: 10-12 minutes, repeat 3-4 times
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In large mixing bowl, mix butter, peanut butter, sugar, and brown sugar together until creamed.
- Next, add the eggs, vanilla, and corn syrup and mix.
- Then add the oats and flour, then mix.
- Last, add the chocolate chips and M&M’s and mix.
- Using the tablespoon, drop spoonfuls onto a ungreased cookie sheet. (I usually do 9 spoonfuls on a sheet)
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, let cool for 5-10 minutes, then remove from cookie sheet with metal spatula. If you have two cookie sheets, you can put your next round in the oven while these cool.
Variations
- Can make Holiday themed cookies. Use red, white, and blue M&M’s for the 4th of July or red and green M&M’s for Christmas.
- You can use any type of chocolate chip; colored, butterscotch, sprinkle.
- I have never tried it, but I am sure you could use any sort of nut butter to make it peanut free.
