Garlic Peppered Mushrooms is a recipe I can remember my mom making about the time I was in high school. At the time, I thought I did not like mushrooms so I refused to eat them. I am not sure if I willingly ate one or if my mom made all us kids try them at one point. But at some point I tried one and I am so glad I did. These mushrooms are amazing! Typically my Mom served these with a pasta dish. But really they would go well with any grilled food as a side as well.
Ingredients for Garlic Peppered Mushrooms
- 1 container white mushrooms, whole
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 tablespoon or less garlic pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt or less
Utensils Needed
Directions for Garlic Peppered Mushrooms
Prep Time: 5 minutes / Cook Time: 20 – 30 minutes
- In a small small sauce pan add the mushrooms and butter.
- Sprinkle mushrooms with garlic pepper and salt to taste, be generous.
- Put a lid on them and turn the burner to medium to medium high heat.
- Once the butter is melted, remove the lid. Stir the mushrooms and add more garlic pepper and salt.
- Occasionally stir the mushrooms for the next 20 – 30 minutes.
- The mushrooms will start to turn a golden brown color, they are done at this point.
- If you are cooking something else, and your mushrooms are done. You can place the lid back on and turn the burner to low. Continue to stir occasionally until food is ready.
Variations
- You can use sliced or whole mushrooms. The sliced mushrooms may cook faster.
- I did not have the actual garlic pepper seasoning in my kitchen so I used garlic powder, pepper, and salt.
- You can easily double or triple this recipe and it will turn out great. I actually doubled the recipe in my pictures.
