Italian Mac and Cheese Plated

Italian Mac and Cheese sounded like the perfect recipe for my husband. I also have a lot of Italian sausage to use up from our pig we purchased. I am not a fan of Italian sausage but my husband loves it, so I made this for him. He said it was great! It reminded us of a Goulash but in a casserole form. If I make this again for him, I would add some milk, tomato sauce, and cheese to the mixture. I may add extra sour cream and cream cheese. The dish was just a bit dry for how I like pasta. But overall my husband said it was still good. I would prefer a bit more of a saucy dish. Salad would go great as a side with this.

Variations

  • You can use ground beef, venison, pork. Really any ground meat.
  • If I make this again, I would add some milk, tomato sauce, and shredded cheese to the mixture before putting it in the pan to bake.
  • If you want some extra spice, you could add red pepper flakes to the Italian sausage or even some chili powder.
