Easy Pizza Casserole is a great recipe for kids. It tastes like pizza and they can easily help assemble it. I am sure my Mom made this when I was a kid but I can only remember my Dad making it on the nights my Mom was gone. Simple bread and butter goes well with this or frozen cheese bread, but that would involve heating the oven up. A healthier option would be a side salad or cottage cheese. As this meal isn’t exactly the healthiest, if I am making it, it is because I have limited time. So usually bread and butter is our side.
Ingredients for Easy Pizza Casserole
- 5 oz package pepperoni minis
- 6 oz package Canadian bacon, chopped
- 8 oz package shredded mozzarella cheese
- 16 oz box pasta
- Two 24 oz jars spaghetti sauce
Utensils Needed
Directions for Easy Pizza Casserole
Prep Time: 20 – 30 minutes
- In your pasta pot, fill half way with water and place on stove top on high heat.
- When the water comes to a boil, dump your pasta in, stir occasionally.
- While the pasta cooks, cut your Canadian bacon up into small pieces, do the same with the pepperoni if you bought larger sized ones.
- Once your pasta is cooked, use a strainer and drain the water.
- Place the pasta in the pot and add your spaghetti sauce, stir.
- Next, add your meat and stir.
- Lastly add your cheese and stir.
- Serve while it is still hot, enjoy!
Variations
- Growing up we left the pepperoni and Canadian bacon whole, I prefer it cut up.
- You can use 1 – 2 jars of sauce. I usually use 1 and a half. Just depends how saucy you want it.
- I know there are recipes like this that you bake in the oven. We have never done that. It would take longer to bake and you have to heat your oven up. I like to keep this as a quick recipe.
- You could easily add Italian sausage or ground beef.
- Vegetables could be added to this, but you may want to saute them or bake the casserole to cook them.
- My sister really loves black olives, I do not. But those could easily be added at the end.
