This recipe for Crockpot Mac and Cheese reminds me of your classic diner mac and cheeses. I got this recipe from my Grandma, but I am not sure when. I just noticed it in my recipe box awhile back and thought it would go perfect with some of my other recipes. We love to make this with grilled or smoked foods. If you want to take this recipe up a step, you can add some seasonings, bacon, bread crumbs, brisket. Really any of your typical toppings would work with this recipe.
Ingredients for Crockpot Mac and Cheese
- 4 cups dry pasta
- 4 cups milk
- 8 oz cheddar cheese, cubed
- 8 oz Colby cheese, cubed
- 8 oz Velveeta cheese, cubed
Utensils Needed
Directions for Crockpot Mac and Cheese
Prep Time: 10 minutes / Cook Time: 3 hours on high
- Dump all ingredients into crockpot and stir.
- Turn crockpot on high for 3 hours.
- I stir this recipe about every 30 minutes.
- You can serve once pasta is tender and cheese is melted.
Variations
- Even though this is a crockpot recipe, I have found it has to be stirred the entire time. The edges will really burn other wise.
- I end up adding additional milk as the mac and cheese cooks. I do not like a dry mac and cheese.
- Depending how I am feeling, I will sometimes add salt and pepper. Ground mustard, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, bacon bits are all good to add in as well.
- You can change up the cheeses for cheddar and Colby. A Monterrey jack would be good.
