Homemade Strawberry Shortcake, I promise this is worth the hassle. Yes you can go buy pre-made pound cake or angel food cake, cool whip or canned whipped cream, and strawberries in a can. Yes that is way easier, but it will not even compare to this recipe. This is one of my favorite desserts, especially during the Summer when strawberries are in season. I could seriously just dip the pound cake in the strawberries.

Strawberries
- While the pound cake cooks. Cut your strawberries up.
- I usually cut one medium strawberry into 4 slices. Larger strawberries I will do 5 – 6 slices.
- Place the strawberries and 1/4 cup sugar in a medium size mixing bowl and mix well. Add more sugar as needed. Place in the fridge.
- I do like to stir the strawberries every hour or so up until we use them.
Whipped cream
- While the pound cake continues to bake.
- In your KitchenAid mixing bowl, attach your whisk attachment.
- Place the heavy whipping cream in the mixer and mix on high.
- Mix until stiff peaks form. (A few minutes)
- Dump vanilla and powdered sugar in and mix on low. May have to scrape sides.
- Wrap bowl with Seran Wrap and place in fridge until ready to use.
Assembly
- Once pound cake has cooled, remove from pan and slice.
- Top with strawberries and then whipped cream.
- Enjoy!
Variations
- Vanilla ice cream goes well with this recipe also.
