Old Fashioned Goulash is a recipe that always reminds me of home. I can remember my Dad making it occasionally but I had never actually eaten it. When my husband requested this meal, I decided it was time for me to give it a try. I was very surprised by the flavors this recipe has. This was a recipe that was also very easy to adjust to our diet needs. I am sure cheese really adds to this dish, but we left it off our plates. Overall this was a good recipe, I did make a few changes to it which you will find below. Enjoy!

Directions for Old Fashioned Goulash
Prep Time: 15 minutes / Cook Time: 35 minutes
- Mighty Mrs.
- In your pasta pot, place your ground beef, peppers, and onion. Turn burner to medium – high heat.
- Cook for about 10 minutes or until ground beef is browned.
- Add the garlic and cook for a couple minutes.
- Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, Italian seasoning, and salt. Stir well.
- Add the pasta and water, stir well.
- Simmer for 20 minutes or until pasta is cooked to your liking.
- Serve and top with parmesan cheese.
Variations
- You can top with red pepper flakes, olive, and artichokes.
- There is the option to cook the pasta in a separate pot to start, then add to the cooked beef sauce. I think it is way better cooking the pasta in the sauce, adds flavor to the noodles.
- I used whole wheat noodles, you can use whatever you would like.
- Because of our diet needs, I used ground turkey. You can use any sort of ground meat for this.
