Plated Ham Balls

Easy Ham Balls With Sauce is one of those recipes I grew up having only during the Winter a couple of times a year. My dad hated this meal so we rarely had it. So now as an adult, I make it often. It is a great meal to feed a very large group. But what I love about this recipe is you can freeze the uncooked ham balls and save for portioned size meals later on. I typically break the recipe up into 4 meals, freeze 3 of them. The sauce is so easy to make, you can whip that up fresh each time. I grew up eating this meal with green beans and boxed Pasta Roni Parmesan Cheese. My siblings and I would always fight over the pasta. I have since switched the pasta out for parmesan rice to be a little healthier.

Directions For Easy Ham Balls With Sauce

Prep Time: 30 minutes / Cook Time: 1 hour

  1. Preheat over to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add beef, ham, eggs, milk, and graham crackers.
  3. Mix together by hand then form 36 meatballs.
  4. As you make the meatballs, place in greased baking dish.
  5. Next, in a clean large mixing bowl, add tomato soup, vinegar, brown sugar, and mustard.
  6. Whisk sauce together, then pour over ham balls.
  7. Place in oven, uncovered and cook.

Variations

  • Freezing ham balls: Once you have formed all 36 ham balls, place the ones you want to freeze on parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Place in the freezer for about an hour. Once frozen, pull out and place portion sized amounts in freezer bags. Place them back in the freezer until ready to use. Before cooking, pull bag out and place in the fridge to thaw overnight. Then follow cooking directions. When doing this, I usually use a 9 x 9 baking dish. I also only cut the sauce part in half, as we like extra sauce!
