Plated Steamed Broccoli

Steamed Broccoli is our go to side dish that is healthy. When I met my husband, he said he did not like broccoli. I changed his mind with this recipe. It has great flavor, and goes with about any recipe. The best part about it is, it’s a healthy vegetable that only takes about 15 – 20 minutes to make. The one thing about this recipe that takes it to the next level is the Butcher BBQ Signature Blend seasoning. I promise it is worth the money and you will never use another seasoning with your broccoli again.

Directions for Steamed Broccoli Side Dish

Prep Time: 5 minutes / Cook Time: 15 minutes

  1. Cut Broccoli stem and leaves off so you only have florets.
  2. Put broccoli in the saute pan and add 1 cup of water and 1-2 tablespoons of butter.
  3. Place on medium to medium high heat and put the lid on.
  4. Cook for about 5 minutes, take the lid off and stir.
  5. Cook for another 5 minutes with the lid on.
  6. As it cooks, the butter should melt and towards the end, there should not be much liquid in the bottom of the pan.
  7. Once you can stick a fork nicely through the broccoli, take off the burner and set aside. If the fork cannot go through the broccoli nicely, give it a couple more minutes and check again. Repeat if needed
  8. Couple notes, if your broccoli is not done, but all your water is gone, you can add more water. If your broccoli is done, but still have liquid in the pan, you can drain.
  9. Once broccoli is cooked, add the seasoning and mix.
  10. Serve with any meal you desire.

Variations

  • Add salt to the water at the beginning.
  • Substitute butter with olive oil or leave out completely.
  • Add no seasoning or whatever seasoning you enjoy. I have tried many, and this is by far my favorite.
  • If you have a double broiler, you could use that instead of a saute pan.
